I read chetan bhagat's "Three mistakes" in serene burhanpur.... yes I am on a vacation nd thoroughly enjoying it...
I feel, more then the 'IIT days' and 'call centre nights', this book represents the youth....
apart from the many emotions which are dealt delicately this book evoked the 'Ishaan nandkishore avasti'(TZP) in me...
The young and the restless are clearly torn between their insecurities and their passions or dreams(whatever u may call it)
While a santa may like the ensconce of a niche white collar MBA job..... a banta might just want to play cricket ( and lets not talk about other sports in our country) throughout his life... well, As a matter of heart, there is a santa and banta inside all of us.....
One may argue that times are changing and youngsters today are pursuing offbeat professions more then ever, agreed but that still constitutes the 5 - 10 % lucky few... Imagine the response u get if at the dinner table u tell ur parents, "Mom, dad I wanna be a rock star, I wanna play guitar throughout ma life"......
and while the santa and banta inside u continue fighting- the youngsters today have a solution u go through the engg MBA ritual grab a job, become successful, then u r free to pursue whatever u want ( be it wildlife photography or writing a book....)
It seems (as eminem wisely said) "Success is your only Mother F***ing option"

The Santa always overcome the Banta in many lives... and thats the sad thing which i saw in Indian mentality... outside country may be things are different but Indian mentality or u call society forces us to pursue what they decide for us... I would still feel that one should follow ur own heart and then call urself successful :-) or atleast at the death bed you will be sleeping in peace...
Very nice write up dear.. keep coming them :-)
